Hidden history in South Iceland

Hotel Vos is very close to the sea (3 km) and it is very interesting to see the black beach for an open Atlantic and even fish dogfish (mud shark).  Ytri-Rangá/Hólsá is one of the greatest salmon fishing river in the country and Ægisíðufoss (13 km) is a waterfall in Ytri Rangá. Djúpósstífla (7,4 km) is a dam where the rivers Ytri-Rangá, Þverá and Hólsá meet. The dam was built in 1922. Þykkvibær was a kind of an island before the dam was made and with advent of the dam, the riverbed changed and therefore living conditions in the Þykkvibær
