Ytri-Rangá/Hólsá is one of the greatest salmon fishing river in the country and Ægisíðufoss (13 km) is a waterfall in Ytri Rangá. Djúpósstífla (7,4 km) is a dam where the rivers Ytri-Rangá, Þverá and Hólsá meet. The dam was built in 1922. Þykkvibær was a kind of an island before the dam was made and with advent of the dam, the riverbed changed and therefore living conditions in the Þykkvibær.
